Star Forest is a game made by Meridian Game Lab. This page says what we keep about you when you play, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. There are no adverts in the game, and we don't sell anything about you to anyone.

What we keep

Your account. The email address you signed up with, or the username you chose. Your password is held by Google's Firebase sign-in service; we never see it.
If you sign in with Google or X, what they share with us: your account number with them, and your name and email address if you agree to share them.
Your characters. Their names, looks, side (Light or Dark), realm, skills, items, gold and where they are in the world.
While you're online: where your character stands, what they're doing, their level, the version of the game you're playing and whether it's on a Mac or Windows. This is how other players see you move.
What you write in the game: chat said aloud near others, lines sent to the whole realm, and anything you post on the forums or send as a message.

Why

To sign you in, keep your characters and put you back where you left off.
To show you to other players, and them to you.
To send the link that confirms your email, and, if you ever need it, a link to reset your password. We don't send newsletters or marketing.
To keep the realms fair: to look into cheating, abuse and bug reports.

Who else sees it

Other players see your character's name, look, level and where they are while you're online, and what you say in chat. They don't see your email.
The team can see accounts, characters and who's online, to run the game and answer reports.
The services we use hold the data for us: Google Firebase (sign-in and the game's database), Google and X (only if you sign in with them), and our web host (the website and downloads).
Anyone else only if the law requires it.

On your computer

The game keeps its settings, and your sign-in so you stay signed in, on your own computer. The website keeps your sign-in in your browser for the same reason. Neither uses tracking cookies or adverts.

How long, and removing it

We keep your account and characters for as long as the account exists. You can delete a character yourself from the character screen. To have your whole account and everything in it removed, write to us from the email on the account, or tell us your username, and we'll remove it within 30 days.

Children

Star Forest isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly keep anything about them. If you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that matters will be in the game's patch notes.
